Our Story

We care for our patients

The Oval Physio has cared for over 45,000 people since we first opened our doors in 1991. We originally established our practice at North Sydney Oval to support the North Sydney Rugby League Football Club.

Today, we treat patients of all ages, with all types of musculoskeletal problems.

One on one service

Our ethos is to provide our patients with the best physiotherapy service possible. We want to help them get out of pain in the shortest possible time with the least number of visits.

We give each patient our undivided attention by treating one person at a time and by providing generous consultation times.

When required, we use hands-on pain relief. This may include a variety of manual techniques such as massage and joint mobilisation.

We strive to solve problems for the long-term
  •  Educating our patients to understand their diagnosis
  • Teaching them strategies to help resolve or manage their condition
  • Designing rehabilitation programs to fix the problem

We aim to remove long-term dependence on your physiotherapist.

We specialise in treating shoulders

The shoulder is a particularly complex joint which requires an expert understanding of its anatomy and biomechanics.

Our practice is renowned throughout Sydney and NSW for our specialist knowledge and experience in treating shoulders. We work closely with many of Sydney’s leading shoulder orthopaedic specialists to assist their patients with pre- and post-operative recoveries. Many patients avoid surgery by attending the clinic for our shoulder rehabilitation program.

We support local schools

The practice is centrally located to a large number of schools on the lower North Shore. We have cared for students and staff from many of the local schools including: St Aloysius’ College, SHORE, Wenona, Riverview, Ravenswood, SCEGGS Redlands, Marist College, Monte St Angelo, North Sydney Boys and Girls School.

We are highly qualified

All our physiotherapists are fully qualified and registered practitioners. We run regular in-service meetings, inter-practice study workshops and we support external continuing education for our physiotherapists. This ensures our patientsreceive the highest quality service from all our physiotherapists.

We work closely with other specialists

We have close working relationships with an extensive network of health professionals. We know the right people in the right places and we have great access to their services when required. These specialists include orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, rehabilitation physicians, rheumatologists, radiologists, podiatrists, personal trainers and massage therapists.

We are proud of our reputation for providing a caring and professional service. We welcome you to our practice and look forward to supporting you and your family’s health.

Keep well,

Joel & Erica Werman
